The Super Bowl fanfare has come and gone and many people braved the icy conditions and cold weather to take part in some of the most talked about events of the year. There were dozens of celebrity sightings in the metroplex and surprisingly through the bitter cold there were several locals out enjoying themselves at some popular venues in the city. The day before the Super Bowl I worked with a team of filmmakers and three other photographers to spread awareness of human trafficking. The team was assembled by Trey Hill who worked hand in hand with Lamont Hiebert, a recording artist and modern-day abolitionist who co-founded Love146, and Christian Elliott, Founder & CEO of International Operations Center for Children.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I set out on this project. However, what I know for a fact is that each person on this team was extremely talented and did an amazing job in coordinating and interacting with the public. We all met at the Rock Hard Studio located in Uptown Dallas to discuss our action plan and divvy out the assignments. I was given Knox Henderson and the Cedar Springs block party. Our mission was to have a presence in the community and to expose the issue of human trafficking here in America. Many people that we interviewed surprisingly had some knowledge about the issue, but were not aware of the enormity of it.
